The Kristu Jyoti Group of Schools is owned by the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), the first indigenous religious congregation in India. The immediate management of Kristu Jyoti Group of Schools is with the S.H. Monastery, Chethipuzha.

The founding leader of the congregation Blessed Kuriakose Elias Chavara started the first first Catholic Sanskrit School in Kerala in 1846 and the first primary school in 1864. Now this has grown in to a network of 300 Schools and 20 Colleges and a number of Vocational Training Centres.

The immediate management of Kristu Jyothi is with the SH Monastery, Chethipuzha. The prior of SH monastery
Fr. Thomas Choolaparampil CMI is the Chairman of the group.
